Statement in support of Nikol Pashinyan
On January 19, 2010 the editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" daily Nikol Pashinyan was sentenced to 7 years in prison, a downright illegal court ruling by the common jurisdiction court in Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts. The charge that Pashinyan organized riots was in no way proven in the course of the trial. Moreover, it is clear the court has singled out Pashinyan for excessive punishment. Of the seven other political prisoners, opposition representatives sentenced before Pashinyan on the same charges, six were given shorter terms and later released under the general amnesty.

Urgent Appeal to the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe
We are appealing to you in regards to recent changes in the composition of the Armenian delegation to the PACE imposed by the chairman of the Armenian Parliament. Those changes are in clear and blatant violation of the principles set out in Rule 6.2 of the PACE Rules of Procedure, according to which national parliamentary delegations must be composed of membership that ensures a fair representation of the political parties or groups represented in their respective parliaments.

Statement of Human Rights Organizations
On the human rights day we, the representatives of human rights organizations in Armenia, express our deep concern about the issues concerning with law authorities, court system and administration of justice. Unfortunately we point out that in 2009 human rights activists recorded a number of cases of torture, forcing testimony, fair trial violations. As an obvious case we would like to mention 1-2 March events of 2008 and the processes followed.

TIAC Statement on International Anti-Corruption Day
Today is December 9, International Anti-corruption Day as designated by the United Nations General Assembly. This year Armenia's Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index score for 2009 dropped, and the country remained in the group of states with rampant corruption among the 180 surveyed countries. Armenia, as perceived by business people and international analysts, is a state where no progress has been made to reduce the level of corruption since 2003.

Statement on "Chorrord Ishkhanutiun" daily
"Chorrord Ishkhanutiun" (the fourth power) daily was not issued on November 10, 2009. Instead, identical in design and content, "Chorrord Inknishkhanutiun" (the fourth sovereignty) newspaper appeared in newsstands.The publication of the newspaper, well-known to the reading public, was ceased based upon Kentron and Nork Marash administrative district court ruling made by Judge Gagik Khandanyan on "banning "Chorrord Ishkhanutiun" daily newspaper's publication by "Trespassers W." LLC, or by any other company in any other printing house." The Service for Compulsory Execution of Judicial Acts opened proceedings based on the court ruling. An economic dispute between "Gind" printing house and the publisher of "Chorrord Ishkhanutyun," "Ogostos" LLC carrying out media activity, served an occasion for such a ruling.
