The aim of the project is promote the integrity of the defense sector through increased civic oversight of budgets and assets. It may be achieved through enhancement of the capacity of civil society actors and parliamentarians to oversee the performance of defense institutions and through improving confidence between National Assembly, Ministry of Defense and civil society organizations in Armenia.

2015 Government Defence Anticorruption Index of Armenia was released

The corruption risks in Armenian defence sector were assessed as part of TI-DSP “Government Defence Anticorruption Index” 2015 global study.[2] Armenian translation and publication of the research is made possible with the support of British Embassy in Yerevan through the project “Promoting the Integrity of the Defence Sector in Armenia” implemented by the Transparency International Anticorruption Center.  Armenia is ranked in Band D in the high category for corruption in the defence and security sector. The highest risk areas were Finance, Operations, and Procurement, which fell in Band E (very high risk of corruption).

Government Defense Anticorruption Index of Armenia was presented and discussed on February 17, 2016.  The corruption risks in Armenian defense sector were assessed as part of Defense and Security Program (TI-DSP) Government Defense Anticorruption Index 2015 global study. Armenian translation and publication of the research is made possible with the support of British Embassy in Yerevan through the project “Promoting the Integrity of the Defense Sector in Armenia” implemented by the Transparency International Anticorruption Center. Corruption risks are assessed in key areas. Armenia is ranked in Band D in the high category for corruption in the defense and security sector.

“Corruption risks and public oversight in defense sector” training

On October 7-8, 2015, within the framework of "Promoting the Integrity of the Defense Sector in Armenia" project Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) hosted “Corruption Risks and Public Oversight in Defense Sector” interactive training program. The training is conducted by Katherine Dixon, Director and Stefanie Nijssen, Conflict and Insecurity Team Project Lead of Transparency International UK Defense and Security Program. The project is funded by UK's Conflict Stability and Security Fund and administered via British Embassy Yerevan. The training participants were involved in exercises, group discussions and role play, suggested solutions and made action plan.
