Assessment of the Performance of RA Prosecutor’s Office Published
Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) has published a report assessing the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, aimed at supporting the Government of Armenia and the Prosecutor’s Office in strengthening institutional mechanisms for combating corruption and improving the effectiveness of anti-corruption policy.
The study assesses the compliance of the Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia with international standards, in particular the requirements of the UN Convention against Corruption and the Jakarta Principles. It also identifies the system’s strengths and weaknesses and presents recommendations for improvement.
The assessment covers the period 2021–2024 and is based on legislative acts, official data, open sources, and expert analysis. The results show that the institutional independence and resource adequacy of the Prosecutor’s Office are relatively high; however, there are weaknesses in accountability, prevention, and public awareness.
In the context of the Jakarta Principles, the overall assessment is above average, although external accountability and public communication remain weak areas. Overall performance still does not fully reflect the existing institutional potential.
The report concludes that the main challenges are related to transparency, prevention functions, and strengthening public trust. Based on this, reforms are proposed aimed at improving accountability, strengthening institutional independence, and enhancing public communication.
