The project goal is to increase transparency and accountability in the defense sector of Armenia. It is achieved through not only government reforms, which are currently in process within the framework of international cooperation programs with OSCE and NATO, but also through an increased demand of civil society actors, equipped with knowledge and capacity to promote change.

Briefing NATO PA delegation

Varuzhan Hoktanyan, Executive Director and Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy Director of Transparency International Anticorruption Center participated in a briefing of Regional Studies Center think tank hosting a visiting delegation from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly on March 28. During the briefing on “Overview of Armenian national security and defense reform,” TIAC representatives presented two issues. Varuzhan Hoktanyan gave an overview of corruption in Armenia and Sona Ayvazyan introduced TIAC’s project Promoting Transparency and Accountability in the Defense Sector in Armenia. The briefing focused on a number of issues of specific assessment, including Armenia’s foreign and national security priorities, regional security challenges from an Armenian perspective, Armenian defense planning and reform, etc.
