Partners in Empowerment
The project aims at strengthening and interconnecting CSOs and CSO leaders in five Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine), making them more able to work together and to draw on peer and international expertise to hold governments to account by becoming effective watchdogs engaged in policymaking processes and in leveraging expertise to monitor public delivery and government decisions. The objective is increased public accountability and effective policymaking towards sustainable development.

Partners in Empowerment awards grants to 8 NGOs in Eastern Partner countries

Eight NGOs have been selected to receive grants from Powers in Empowerment, an EU-funded PASOS program to improve the ability of civil society to monitor policymaking and public services in three Eastern Partnership countries. The NGOs were chosen in a competitive process after a public call to submit proposals to a expert selection committee. “The programs that the Partners in Empowerment grants are supporting will foster stronger, interconnected CSOs and CSO leaders in Armenia, Moldova, and Ukraine, teaching them how to work together and to draw on peer and international expertise to hold governments to account by becoming effective watchdogs engaged in the policymaking process and in leveraging expertise to monitor public service delivery and government decisions,” said PASOS Executive Director Vita Terauda. “By doing so, they are improving the structures for CSO-government dialogue and enhancing capacities for civil society to engage in the policy cycle and to influence policymaking, and increasing public accountability and effective policymaking towards sustainable development.”

Grants supporting civil society actions to monitor the effectiveness of government resource allocation and public service delivery are being made available under Partners in Empowerment, an EU-funded project led by PASOS (Policy Association for an Open Society), working closely with country partners and the Partnership for Transparency Fund e.V. The project focuses on five Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine). Grantees will be supported by organizational capacity mentoring from experienced civil society organizations (CSOs) and organizational development experts and will have access to webinars/toolkits on organizational capacity development and watchdog/monitoring methodologies.
Call for Procurement Monitoring Expert
Call for Monitoring Expert to prepare and present a webinar for civil society organisations in Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine). Webinar should take place in the first half of September 2015 as part of the PASOS project, Partners in Empowerment. Deadline for applications: 27 August 2015. Please send cover letter outlining relevant experience, CV, outline of approach to design of webinar, and remuneration fee sought by midnight CET, 27 August 2015, to Executive Director, PASOS, at [email protected].
Chisinau meeting within the framework of “Partners in Empowerment” project
Since January 2015 Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) started a three-year “Partners in Empowerment” project that aims to increase public accountability and effective policymaking for sustainable development in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine. The project is led by PASOS (Policy Association for an Open Society) and funded by the EU. Through a variety of activities, including workshops, training seminars, online learning platforms, and coalition building, the project strengthens connections between civil society groups, and improves their capacity to engage in the policymaking process. In the framework of the project Sona Ayvazyan, Deputy Director of TIAC, Artak Manukyan, Procurement Expert of TIAC and Vahan Movsisyan, Chairman of Communities Finance Officers Association participated in a meeting “Strengthening Public Accountability through Effective CSO Watchdog Activities” held in Chisinau, Moldova in March 14 -15, 2015.
